Urban Potters is offering a four month Artist’s Residency in our new studio space in Oval, designed for potters working at an advanced level who are ready to practise with full independence.
The successful applicant will enjoy a free four-month residency within this vibrant studio community, providing dedicated time and space to develop a new body of ceramic work. This is a chance to pursue fresh ideas, deepen your practice, and become part of a creative environment built around artistic growth.
You will be invited to exhibit at our members’ exhibition and open studios, which take place twice a year — a wonderful opportunity to share new work with our wider community.
How to Apply (June-September)
Please submit the following by email to oval@urbanpotters.com by 14th May 2026, 5pm BST.
Up to six images of recent work.
A current CV outlining your creative background and experience.
An artist statement describing your practice, and your ambitions for what you hope to achieve during the residency.

What is required of you
In return, we ask that you commit to being in the studio a minimum of one dedicated day, or two dedicated half-days each week.
We ask that you document and share your residency journey on social media, giving followers an insight into your time at the Oval Studio and the work you develop there.
Who is eligible to apply?
The residency welcomes applications from artists working in ceramics, particularly those with a focus on developing a new body of work, excluding production. Accommodation is not provided, so applicants should be London-based, or willing to cover their own housing.
Is there a fee to participate if selected?
No. The residency is offered free of charge to the selected artist.
What facilities are available?
The selected artist will have access to shared studio space, personal shelving, a slab roller and extruder, Shimpo Whisper wheels, and Rohde electric kilns.
Are materials provided?
Clay, materials and firings are not included. Selected artists will need to use their own clay or purchase clay at the studio.
When will I hear back about my application?
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview by the 18th May. Final decision will be communicated on 22nd May.
Will you offer other residencies in the future?
Yes. The next residency will be October 2026- January 2027.
